EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
After working as a high school social studies teacher and an audio/visual post-production coordinator, Melissa became an attorney. She worked as general counsel for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee before starting Law Office of Melissa L Steinberg, PLLC. Melissa is also founder of the Dispute Resolution Center at Law Office of Melissa L Steinberg, PLLC, a full service mediation, arbitration, negotiation, collaboration, and training resource. Melissa serves as a Public Arbitrator for FINRA. Melissa is an appointee to the list of professionals eligible to serve as fiduciaries for incapacitated adults throughout the NYC metro area.
Melissa received a B.A. in German and History (cum laude), with a minor in French, from Bowdoin College, where she was also the recipient of the Samuel Bernstein Prize for Excellence in the Study of European History. Melissa graduated from Fordham University School of Law. While at Fordham, Melissa was an associate editor of the Fordham Journal of Corporate and Financial Law and a recipient of the Archibald Murray Public Service Award (summa cum laude). Melissa also earned an Executive Certificate in Mediating Complex Disputes from Harvard Law School's Program on Negotiation.
